What We Do

Trafficking doesn’t begin with violence or kidnapping—it starts with a child’s vulnerability. Children need love, belonging, safety, food, clothing, and shelter. When these needs go unmet, they create openings for traffickers to step in, build trust, and exploit the very vulnerabilities they pretend to care about.

At Into the Light, we step into that space of need with compassion and consistency, offering real connection instead of manipulation. Through long-term, healthy relationships and strong partnerships with law enforcement, child welfare, service providers, and families, we work to prevent and end child trafficking, one child at a time. Here’s how we do it:

  • Training community members to recognize and fight human trafficking in arkansas

    1. Training

Ending child sex trafficking starts with understanding how sex trafficking happens in our communities. We believe everyday people have a vital role to play in ending child trafficking. When individuals are equipped to recognize the signs and respond with compassion, they become part of the solution. Volunteers, monthly supporters, and community partners all help carry the light—reaching children in the dark with hope, healing, and safety.

  • group of young people in the light—free from sexual exploitation

    2. Prevention

Using our Enlightened Program, we educate high-risk youth through an 8–10 week, trauma-informed program that empowers children to understand their inherent needs for love, safety, and belonging—and equips them to recognize and avoid exploitation. Through compassionate relationships, we educate youth about how traffickers groom and manipulate vulnerabilities, while supporting families and coordinating with authorities when necessary.

  • Into the Light intervenes for victims of sexual trafficking

    3. Crisis Intervention

When a survivor of trafficking is identified, our team steps in without delay to provide 24/7 crisis intervention. We address their immediate needs, work closely with social services and law enforcement to ensure their safety and seek justice, and most importantly, begin building a trusting relationship with the survivor.

  • Into The Light offers long-term advocacy for survivors of sex trafficking

    4. Advocacy

Sadly, 50% of trafficking survivors are revictimized or return to their traffickers, but this statistic can change with consistent, trauma-informed advocacy. We provide ongoing support through:
    • Weekly trauma-informed care
    • Mentorship & intensive case management
    • Advocacy in court and with law enforcement
    • Empowering survivors through self-efficacy building
    • Celebrating every step of progress!

In The Light

Woman rescued from sex trafficking "I am Worthy!"

“As a child I was abandoned and rejected by my mother

I was emotionally and physically abused. I’ve never had a father in my life. When I was 16, I met an older man who said he loved me. He said he was my boyfriend. Instead of loving me, he forced me, as a child, to have sex with many men for his financial gain. For the last 2 years, I have been supported by an Into The Light Advocate. I now have two jobs and I pay for my own apartment. I am preparing to testify against my trafficker because I never want anyone else to go through what I did. I now understand I have immeasurable worth. I don’t deserve to be used by anyone for anything. My life is changed because people care and give to Into The Light.”

My Into The Light Advocate knows how to put a smile on my face

when I’m stressed out and worrying about things. I love talking to her because it cheers me up and I know you want the best for me. You showed me that even if my own family doesn’t care for me, you do, so things can get better. I have value and I am worth more than money.
