SEX TRAFFICKING
HAPPENS In Arkansas
EVERY DAY
A common myth is that human trafficking only happens in foreign countries. Nothing is further from the truth. Each year in America, $99 Billion is made by the sex trafficking industry. Children, teens, and adults are bought & sold for sex every day…even in rural Arkansas.

What We Do
Trafficking doesn’t begin with violence or kidnapping—it starts with a child’s vulnerability. Children need love, belonging, safety, food, clothing, and shelter. When these needs go unmet, they create openings for traffickers to step in, build trust, and exploit the very vulnerabilities they pretend to care about.
At Into the Light, we step into that space of need with compassion and consistency, offering real connection instead of manipulation. Through long-term, healthy relationships and strong partnerships with law enforcement, child welfare, service providers, and families, we work to prevent and end child trafficking, one child at a time. Here’s how we do it:
“As a child I was abandoned and rejected by my mother
I was emotionally and physically abused. I’ve never had a father in my life. When I was 16, I met an older man who said he loved me. He said he was my boyfriend. Instead of loving me, he forced me, as a child, to have sex with many men for his financial gain. For the last 2 years, I have been supported by an Into The Light Advocate. I now have two jobs and I pay for my own apartment. I am preparing to testify against my trafficker because I never want anyone else to go through what I did. I now understand I have immeasurable worth. I don’t deserve to be used by anyone for anything. My life is changed because people care and give to Into The Light.”

My Into The Light Advocate knows how to put a smile on my face
when I’m stressed out and worrying about things. I love talking to her because it cheers me up and I know you want the best for me. You showed me that even if my own family doesn’t care for me, you do, so things can get better. I have value and I am worth more than money.”
